We are very excited to share that WearOptimo has been awarded a $973,000 grant under the Australian Government’s Manufacturing Modernisation Fund (MMF) through the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources.
This will allow us to initiate a $3.9 million project which will enable us to establish manufacturing of our Microwearable health sensors in Australia. This will be manufacturing that is at the cutting edge of advanced manufacturing globally. The project will result in the creation of more than 13 permanent, high skilled jobs and unlock additional support roles that will also be permanent.
WearOptimo is fast becoming a pioneer and global leader in the manufacture of wearable health sensors, using sophisticated advanced manufacturing processes and equipment in Australia, for the global distribution and sale of our products.
In announcing the successful recipients, Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Christian Porter said MMF funding helps business to modernise their manufacturing processes, which improves productivity, reduces costs, enables them to target new export opportunities and creates highly skilled manufacturing jobs.
“Australia’s manufacturing sector is vitally important to our economy, directly employing more than 900,000 Australian workers and contributing almost $120 billion to our export earnings last year,” Minister Porter said.
WearOptimo Founder and Chief Executive, Mark Kendall, responded to the announcement from Minister Porter and said: “I am grateful to the Federal Government for supporting WearOptimo with the MMF grant. This is a key step in allowing WearOptimo to make our Microwearables in Australia, delivering Australian high-tech jobs and improved healthcare”.
