Stano is a computer scientist and engineer with over 20 years of experience in sensing, distributed computing, and hardware-software co-design. He has extensive experience leading research and development across software architecture and robotics. Stano was a Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, leading a multi-disciplinary group focusing on robotic perception and autonomy. Prior to CSIRO, he spent 12 years working for Silicon Valley startups, architecting the compiler stack for wafer-scale processors at Cerebras Systems and performing user modelling and natural language processing at Meta (Facebook). Stano holds a PhD in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University and degrees in electrical engineering, computer science, and mathematics from MIT.
